The first female flowers of the two ‘Burgesses Buttercup’ winter squashes have opened (a small vine good for small spaces, I train them along my fence) - one on each plant so far. I grew these from seeds I saved from last year's plants. I isolated one of the flowers and hand pollinated it to ensure no crossing (hence the bulldog clip), meaning I'll sow the seeds from that fruit in particular next year. Seed saving is so empowering - it’s one of my favourite parts of the growing process 🌱🙏
Does anyone else save seed?
