Sold to us as a desirable skill when what it actually does is ensure anything you do gets done badly, which makes you feel incompetent, which makes you buy something to help you do a better job.

So you spend twice as long and more money on the task, eliminating the free time you would have cultivated had you given it all your focus and so completed it well the first time.

Capitalism basically needs you time poor and spending and the farce of ‘multitasking’ does a pretty good job of that.
