Last year the New York Times published their list of the best 100 movies of the 21st century so far. I’ve been working my way through the ones I haven’t seen.
Tonight it was Todd Haynes’ 2015 film Carol.
Two heaven-sent creatures of pure light (Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara) attempt to steal a few days of happiness together despite being surrounded by a nattering congress of neurotic cucks and loutish pawing dipshits (every other asshole in the movie).
For the briefest of moments I believe I truly comprehended the plight of women, every woman, not just stylish closeted lesbians in the 1950’s.
I looked into Cate Blanchett’s eyes and I grasped the loneliness and rage of all women and I wanted to sink into the earth and cease to exist.
