We’ve been trying to sell our house. Hasn’t been going great.

The longer it sits on the market the more my neighbors make asses of themselves. My next-door neighbor came to every open house last summer, constantly telling me how much better the house was than his. Then he said he was getting ready to bid, then he said that his grown son who lived with him has OCD and didn’t want to move.

Yesterday a family from down the street came for a showing and made an offer so low our realtor advised us not to even respond.

These people were just neutral presences in my life and now whenever I pass their houses I scowl like they just cut me off in traffic.
