The app for independent voices

Over the weekend, Brendan Carr attended CPAC and offered this assessment:

“And President Trump is winning. Look at the results so far. PBS defunded. NPR defunded. Joy Reid gone from MSNBC. Sleepy‑eyed Chuck Todd gone. Jim Acosta gone. John Dickerson gone. Colbert is leaving. CBS is under new ownership, and soon enough, CNN is gonna have new ownership as well.”

Just to be clear: true conservatism is the belief that the chief executive should involve himself in the HR decisions of private companies—right? That it’s a “win” for the president to pressure private businesses into firing employees he doesn’t like?

Or is that what they used to warn us about when talking about communism?

What makes this especially jarring is who’s saying it. Brendan Carr—the same Brendan Carr who once railed against the idea that the federal government might interfere with media companies, insisting conservatives were being censored—is now openly celebrating government action when it curtails speech he disagrees with.

At this point, enormous pro‑MAGA wealth controls every major media company, and figures like Carr are dancing on the grave of free speech. Yet they still complain about press coverage. Why? Because they haven’t silenced everyone. They haven’t silenced people like us.

They don’t want the truth reported. They want it buried.

A free society depends on a free press.
