I hear Substack is coming out in favor of Elon.
I want to talk about my move from Substack to Ghost for a second, and what it's been like working with a nonprofit tech company that actually lives its values.
First of all, about the org: They are a nonprofit, I just met employee number 30. They have in their charter that they're never goin to get over 50 people, because if they're bigger than that, it means they're probably doing stuff that should be someone else's job elsewhere in the ecosystem (bloated tech megaliths, anyone?).
They are, it seems, the opposite of a toxic nonprofit, and definitely the opposite of your exploitative Silicon Valley capitalist scheme-- they have a four-day workweek, because, as I was told, "life is stressful enough." Mostly people take Friday off, but a few take the days that make the most sense for them.
