I think we should ban or sanction hypocrisy accusations until/unless people could pass a Theory of Mind test first, since many people accusing others of hypocrisy do not actually seem capable of modeling other beliefs, or other minds.

(Not saying OP is right about the object-level here, plenty of conservatives say stupid stuff like "if Al Gore's against climate change, why does he fly?", etc. )

The general pattern is that people often accuse others of hypocrisy for things that seem entirely consistent if you have even a moderate understanding of their views, and rarely if ever look out for inconsistency in their own
