Dear Readers,

I'm excited to share my latest reflection, "From Ego to Eco: A Response to Dario Amodei's 'Machines of Loving Grace'" - Earth to AI: We're All in This Together (Yes, Even the Jellyfish).

After reading Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's thoughtful essay on AI's potential to transform human health, economics, and society, I found myself inspired yet wondering: what about our non-human companions on this journey? In this piece, I explore how we might expand AI's circle of moral consideration beyond humans to include all beings with whom we share this planet.

Drawing on Richard Brautigan's visionary 1967 poem "All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace," I suggest that the most profound promise of AI might be helping us bridge the artificial separation between humanity and nature that has characterized so much of modern technological development.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we might develop AI with an ecological consciousness that recognizes our interdependence with all life forms. What would a truly eco-centric approach to AI look like to you?

With gratitude and appreciation,

Linda

P.S. If you find these reflections valuable, please consider sharing with others who might appreciate this perspective on our technological future!
