Amazon may launch a marketplace where publishers can sell their content directly to AI companies.
If this happens, it’s a big shift.
For years now, AI companies scraped the open web. Publishers sued. Traffic dropped. Everyone complained….
This flips the model:
Content becomes a licensed asset class
AI training data becomes priced infrastructure
AWS could become the broker of the AI content economy
The real question isn’t “will this help publishers?”
It’s:
Are we about to see the financialization of the internet’s knowledge layer?
Because if usage-based AI licensing becomes standard, ads and subscriptions might not be the primary revenue model anymore!
Feels like a new start to the content market as we know.
