We read Jon Murphy’s Poem “I Know Why The Old Man Don’t Speak” in class this morning paired with Elizabeth Bishop’s “Sestina". It was a perfect pairing reflecting on intergenerational relationships and the silent understandings or misunderstandings that circulate within them. If you have not read his poem, do so. It is a delight.
