What seems normal now will seem strange later. It's not progress. It's just change. But try explaining that to a well-meaning 23-year-old editor who knows she's on the right side of history. Try telling her that history doesn't have sides. That it's just one damn thing after another, and everybody thinks they're the hero of the story.
