Tasmania’s population is currently tracking below the low series of the Tasmanian Department of Treasury and Finance’s population projections.

If this pattern continues, it is likely that Tasmania’s population will enter population decline by the end of this decade (by 2030).

However, the situation varies for each of the 29 local government areas (LGAs).

Better understanding the changing population dynamics and the drivers of that change enables more informed decision-making in relation to the organisations, industries and regions you live and work in.

My Understanding Population Dynamics professional learning course offers an intensive and intentional one day professional learning course which provides you with a deeper understanding of population change through four lens’:

• economic

• demographic

• human

• spatial

While the course is grounded in demographic theories and concepts, the course uses the most recent Tasmanian population data to explain the changing population dynamics and the implications for the future.

By participating in the course, you will be will equipped with the knowledge to enable you to better understand and interpret the drivers of population change, and the associated consequences and opportunities, to inform your decision-making and/or policy advice.

The course contains both theory and practical application to real-world, relevant scenarios to your regions and industries.

The inaugural course will be held in Hobart on Friday, 12th of September from 8:45am to 5:00pm. The investment is $500, plus GST.
