Every creative thing I've ever built has known what it wanted to be.

And every time, I've built architecture around it (systems, schedules, frameworks, strategic rationale) until I couldn't quite see the original thing anymore.

The thing didn't change. I just kept adding rooms until the light got blocked out.

I'm in the process of removing some rooms. It's uncomfortable in the way that necessary things usually are. But I can see the light again.
