“Walk and Talk” Wednesday:

I made some shifts in my life a few years ago. Like this one: for years, some of my clients were wanting to walk while we talked on the phone for our session. I started to walk too. I called them “walk and talks.”

Then the pandemic happened. A few more folks wanted to “walk and talk.” It was working so well that I started to actually put this out there as an invitation to more of my current and new clients coming in.

Folks have loved it. I have too.

I now get paid every day to walk around the fields and woods near my house with my dog while supporting some awesome good stuff happening for my clients. I still do zoom and in person sessions (therapy and coaching). But it’s awesome to have the option of getting outside.

It’s been a game changer for me and for my clients (and my pup, Sherlock!). So much can shift when we are moving our bodies and be in nature! Sometimes we even do some yoga together! I often do somatic experiencing sessions with folks on these “walk and talks”!

So, I am here to say that it's possible to get creative with what you and your body need, what you love, and how you want to help others!

Now as a somatic psychotherapist, lover of the outdoors, yogi, trauma expert, leadership coach, dog owner, and seasoned clinician and coach for over 20 years who actually doesn’t like to sit much, I get to walk and help facilitate change in a person’s life - with the fields and mountains right outside my back door on the daily!

And a bonus (because i’m a poet too!): I sometimes share a poem of mine or another poet in our sessions! I've done this for years in sessions and in the workshops I facilitate! Poetry outdoors is a different experience!

I am here to say that if you are bored or tired or burnt out with what you currently have going on in you life, there are way to change it up! It might be easier than you think!
