This is my dog, Cali. And my bear, Holden. Yes, my stuffie.

I sleep with him every night. (His name is Holden because I'm holdin' him all night long. I thought of that myself and I'm very proud.)

Ergonomically, it actually makes sense. I'm a side sleeper with a pillow between my knees, and having something to wrap my arms around keeps everything balanced. But honestly? When I'm stressed and I pull him up tight against my chest, it literally warms my heart. That's not a metaphor.

My 6-year-old granddaughter spent the day with me this week. At nap time, we laid down together and she saw Holden. She didn't think it was weird at all. It made complete sense to her.

Six-year-olds might be the wisest people alive.

Do you have a comfort object you'd normally be too cool to admit to?
