I don’t know Nicole LePera or her work at all. I’ve never read a single social media post or book, but I’ve heard of her. This description of the lawsuit filed against her is a disturbing reminder that the outward facing image of wellness influencers and the behind closed doors behaviors can be so starkly incongruent as to shock us. We expect some congruence, some consistency, some authenticity, some reality between the public image and the private behaviors. And yet, over and over, our trust is betrayed. No wonder nobody knows who it’s safe to trust in the wellness, spirituality and therapy spaces these days.

While the article is looong and tackles many different issues, and while I think it should have stayed focused on the lawsuit, it still paints a picture we see over and over, of the cult-like behaviors, the coercive control, the boundary violations, and the integrity breaches of those who claim to teach us about integrity.
