I just finished reading Cormac Mccarthy’s book The Road.

There were several scenes that depicted a majority of the women traveling in the cannibal groups as pregnant, and then one poignant scene where the main characters stumble across a camp with a baby being roasted. I surmised that this alluded that in this nuclear war apocalypse, pregnant women would be growing babies for the express purpose of eating them. I wonder how liberal readers handle this part of the book. Does it offend them? Do they consider the “fetuses” to be human flesh, or at what point does eating a baby become cannibalism? If it’s just a clump of cells, how can it be cannibalism?
