When thinking about the “trad” life, one should consider that there are two different types of Patriarchies.

There is the father who is the sole head of the home. His word is law and it may change at a whim. If he is connected to a church, it is not one that has much authority over his life. This doesn’t always lead to the man abusing his absolute authority, but the chances are high.

Then there is the second type, the Catholic father (or high-church fathers) who is bound by the catechism, his priest, his bishop, and the Pope. His ability to become tyrannical is not impossible, but is inhibited by the hierarchy established around him.
