We took Maisie to her first protestant church service recently.

Usually she loves church — she sings gleefully during the Priest’s homily and while the Eucharist is prepared. She is mesmerized by the stained glass, the murals, and the organ music. She smiles and waves to everyone around us in the pews. Mass is also just long enough so she doesn’t get bored or antsy. However, this protestant service was nearly three hours long, the music lacked the depth she’s used to, and there was nothing beautiful to stare at. She is not normally a fussy baby, but she made it clear that she didn’t like being there. She is Catholic through and through, and I love to see it.

Her face while at Mass is a bit like it is when she's watching a river, or eating a peach while watching a river. She already has a penchant for reverence and beauty. She loves nature and people, and by default she loves Church. I know babies aren't supposed to love church, but Maisie isn't like other babies
