If you want to form meaningful connections, look to bond over values rather than aesthetics. I say this as someone who is often tempted to befriend another woman if I see her in a dress. Thing is we might be wearing dresses for different reasons. If she’s doing it out of a sense of legalism and I’m doing it because I am drawn to beauty, we’re going to find ourselves at odds about various things pretty quickly. I’m better off befriending women who are clearly inspired by beauty even if they aren’t wearing a dress. Our clothes will matter less once we find ourselves getting deep about the world around us.
