At 21, I moved overseas for the first time (to California from Australia for college).

At 24, I got my first ‘adult’ job – at a major consumer PR agency in London.

At 25, I took my first major leap of faith – leaving a job that looked good on paper to try my ‘luck’ at freelance writing. I never wanted to work in PR, anyway. 

At 27, I scampered back to the ‘security’ of full-time employment, after learning – the hard way – that there was a lot more than luck to freelance writing.  

At 29, I quit my 9-5 again – for what would be the last time – to run my own business, doing what I love (writing, naturally).

At 34, I’m still self-employed, still figuring it all out (whatever ‘it’ is) — but loving every step of the journey.

The path to fulfilment isn’t linear, and it’s okay for the destination to change. In the ever-wise words of Ronan Keating: “Life is a rollercoaster, just gotta ride it.”
