To all American moms,
who like me, taught their sons to render assistance when they see someone in need. If you count yourself among such mothers then Alex Pretti, the 37 year old who was executed by CBP agents in Minneapolis yesterday, is your son because he could be one or our sons. I am heart broken over this act of violence that robbed Alex of his life, robbed parents of their son, robbed the Minneapolis VA Hospital of an ICU nurse, and a community robbed of a caring individual.
I know of times my sons have rendered assistance or stood up for someone who needed them to. I learned of several such instances from community members because my sons didn’t see such acts as something they needed to talk about but something they did because it was simply the right thing to do. I know there are other mothers who will read this and relate to it.
As I learned that Alex Pretti was simply lending aid to a woman who was shoved to the ground by CBP agents when he was pushed to the ground before 10 bullets were pumped into his body I knew that could have been one of my sons. He could have been your son.
Alex Pretti was somebody’s son. He cared for our veterans as an ICU nurse. He was not a domestic terrorist. Do not believe the lies coming from those responsible for his murder.
What every mother in this country should understand and say to our Congressional representatives and senators,
“That could have been my son, and because of that he is my son. I’m heart broken and I’m outraged that Alex was executed on a public street in this country. It’s time for every mother, every parent, to stand up and say this cannot continue - NOT IN MY COUNTRY!
Remember Alex Pretti. Say his name. He did not deserve to die.
Heart broken,
Lana Miller Caywood, An American Mom
