Tony Glover on the MIGHTY 5-Man Band. “The band is tight, together, and full—and though it's sad not to hear the dialogue between Duane and Dickey's guitars, you soon realize that a whole new conversation is going on between Dickey and Berry. The band will continue to rock on and though Duane's passing was a loss, there's still a lot of fine music in them. When the audience leaves, it's gotten off and is happy. Dickey said, ‘When Duane got killed, the first thing was just 'It’s all over.' It just shocked us. We had planned to take off more time than we did--until the accident. After the accident we were all at a loss as to what to do. It wasn't a vacation anymore. So we cut it short to get back out on the road. It was pretty hard just to sit around the house after what happened.’ Musicians play to ease and surmount the pain. Music is not just something they earn bread with—it's a way of life—and playing was the thing that Duane loved best—the most fitting memorial he could have was to play the music he loved.” 📷Bob Gruen
