Dickey Betts ⁠singing the praises of his partner, bassist Berry Oakley, "I'm a dumb-ass guitar player, you know? But I was smart enough to listen to people who had ideas, like Berry. ⁠And he organized all of our free concerts. And he argued and argued and argued to keep ticket prices down. 'Our people can't afford these horrendous ticket prices.' ⁠He kept us calm. He was the guy who would say, 'Now, you know, let's be cool.' He was a great, great influence on the band."⁠
