You know what turned me off to complementarianism more than anything else (and there was a lot)? It was the way many so-called complementarian men treated egalitarian women who disagreed with them publicly. There was plenty of mistreatment behind the scenes with the women who submitted to them, but the public shaming, name-calling, belittling, and screeds on the women who objected to them publicly made me realize it was all about power for them and the moment they had no power over a woman, they resorted to their worst behavior, betraying their spoken values of care, concern, servant-leadership, and more.

It’s not good leadership if you only exercise kindness to the ones you have power over. It’s a sham.
