You say it’s not the guns.
You say it’s the people
who pull the trigger.
You say it’s about their mental health,
their hearts,
the hate they’ve been taught.
I say you are correct.
I say you miss the point.
I say it’s about the lives
taken too soon.
I say it’s about the altar
of the Second Amendment,
where no sacrifice
is ever enough.
Stop Defending The Gun!
We can destigmatize mental health issues.
We can offer support, counseling, therapy, even medication.
We can teach our children to guard their hearts.
We can sow unity, not hate.
We can realize that time is not on our side.
We can create and enforce legislation that restricts access to firearms.
We must.
So stop telling me
about your Second Amendment right.
We all have
"inalienable rights,
among these are Life,
Liberty,
and the pursuit of Happiness."
Does the Second Amendment
really
outrank
them all?
