I was a fairly early adopter of the “parenting doesn't actually do that much” thesis, and I'll still defend large parts of it. (And it can be useful, too — allaying the anxiety that can easily follow a “my kid is a blank slate” perspective.)

But it's been wonderful to see new authors looking to challenge the thesis. Here’s one of the best so far.
