Tom Noonan just died, which is a shame. Tremendously talented character actor as well as being a true character. He’s in some tremendous films, including a small but pivotal role in one of my favorites, HEAT.

I met him once, at a party with a buddy of mine. We walked in and he was there and just swinging out on the dance floor. My friend saw him before I did and said something like, “Tom Noonan is owning that dance floor.”

At some point not long after, he took a break and my friend and I found ourselves at the drinks table as he came up and I ventured, “You look like you’re having a blast out there.”

He smiled and said, “If you’re not gonna bring it all, why bring any?”

I have tried like hell to live by that credo ever since. Rest in peace, Tom. You brought it all.
