Many haven't realized it, but AI literacy is not optional; it's a must, and everyone should have an AI literacy routine (especially knowledge workers). But most people still don't know what AI literacy is:

It includes theoretical and practical, general and applied knowledge, including:

  • being familiar with available AI-powered tools that are relevant to your field and how other professionals are using them;

  • understanding how these tools work and how to integrate them into your daily work;

  • being aware of the risks and potential harms and when it might NOT be advisable to use them.

Do you think that knowing how to use the internet is optional? It's not.

Many haven't realized it, but that's how it will be with AI in 5-10 years from now.

Everyone should integrate AI literacy efforts into their professional routines.

It's not too early!

AI is advancing fast and being integrated into existing professional frameworks, and millions of professionals worldwide are right now upskilling and learning how to use it.

As I wrote a few weeks ago in my article about the topic, in a few years, there will likely be millions of “AI illiterates” or “AI Have-Nots”: professionals who cannot navigate the new technological reality and who will become less competitive and vulnerable.

A last comment on that: most people are learning about AI only superficially: how tools work abstractly or "how to prompt." This is not AI literacy.

Learning AI's legal and ethical issues, governance frameworks, applicable laws, and responsible AI practices are as important as navigating the technical aspects.

Listen to my advice and schedule a new AI literacy routine starting TODAY!

I mentioned above an AI literacy routine. Why? AI is evolving, and it requires ongoing learning. Having been an active learner in 2024 will not help you in 2026.

In that context, I highly recommend you subscribe to my AI governance newsletter to start receiving my CRITICAL analyses of AI's legal and ethical aspects.

It's a leading publication in the field and will help you see AI beyond the hype and stay up to date (59,000+ people already subscribe).

I'm also adding a link to my articles explaining:

  • What is AI literacy; and

  • The AI literacy crisis.

Good luck!
