I suspect, though this is genuinely just speculation and will be proven in the coming hours/days, that there were forces in Maduro's government, either civilian or military, that agreed to give up Maduro and will use the nationalistic surge to form a more or less broad coalition government, that will slowly show its actual reactionary colors, and give concessions to US imperialism.

Then it will be on the Venezuelan masses to react.
