The app for independent voices

Here’s one I did earlier. The early 1980s was a terrific time for British filmmaking… it only lasted a few years, petering out mid-decade. Creative, spiky, subversive, edgy, aesthetic, original and different. We can apply all or some of these traits. And what a roll-call!

From the top of my head, we have The Elephant Man (1980), The Long Good Friday (1980), An American Werewolf in London (1981), The French Lieutenant’s Woman (1981), Gregory’s Girl (1981), The Draughtsman’s Contract (1982), Moonlighting (1982), The Return of the Soldier (1982), Educating Rita (1982), Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence (1982), Another Country (1984), The Company of Wolves (1984), Dance with a Stranger (1985), Dreamchild (1985), A Room with a View (1985) and My Beautiful Laundrette (1985).
