This weekend I was talking to a teacher about listening to the community. She told me that earlier in her career on the week before school the principal loaded up the teachers on a school bus and had them ride the route of their incoming students. The principal said, “If you’re going to help your kids learn, you have to understand where they’re coming from and how they’re getting to you.”

That’s some wisdom.
