Great post. But I believe you are grossly underestimating downtown Pittsboro’s resilience. Recall that it was supposed to be knocked off the map by the 64 by-pass. “People will stop coming to our antique stores…”
True. Move over antiques. Hello yoga home decor. Downtown Pittsboro boomed.
Downtown was supposed to be annihilated by Chatham Park’s Mosaic. Wrong. It filled up with surveyors, realtors, attorneys and engineering firms—all those folks selling pitchforks and shovels to the impending gold rush.
Havoc entered a declining market in a big way, with a big splash, and while they may be going the way of the mood ring, the SoCo energy won’t end with their demise.
Downtown Pittsboro has a vitality, and an energy that will transcend a darkened street corner. It always does.
As for Postal Fish, great restaurants come and go. That will not be the end of downtown. Just a shift in an ever changing eco-system that has demonstrated its resilience for the past thirty-five years…
