Yglesias: dogs are not people. I was thinking about writing a similar article, though I didn’t know that there was so much legislation out there to advantage dog owners at the expense of everyone else. I’ve heard right-wing women say that they resent trans women for making a mockery of what they are. As a parent, reading this I realized that I feel the same way about dog owners. No, you’re not a “dog parent,” or any kind of parent. I do my part to populate the next generation and allow civilization to continue. You arbitrarily decided to build a relationship with a creature about equally intelligent as the species we eat as bacon every morning. Ok, that sounds a bit harsh. But yes, people should direct those same instincts toward kids, and government shouldn’t subsidize their lifestyle choice.
