The song became so big that thanks to it No Doubt were nominated for Grammy Awards, Best Rock Album and Best New Artist, and for an American Music Award, Favorite New Artist Pop/Rock, though they did not win. Their first real victory came at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, where “Don’t Speak” won Best Group Video. The clip was the first of several No Doubt videos directed by Sophie Muller.
