When he went to the offices to first hear where the album was heading, he heard the Wyclef track, the Dave Matthews track, and a few others, and he realized that, in his own view, what was missing was that type of song that carried the classic Santana groove, in the spirit of “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va,” and “Evil Ways.” So he went home, wrote an instrumental piece on guitar with all of his arranging ideas, and called it “Room One Seven.
