Denny Seiwell, co-founder of Wings and the band’s original drummer, remembered how excited everyone was by the idea that they would be writing a song for James Bond. He recalled that Paul had told them a few weeks before the recording that he had been asked to write the theme for the next Bond film and had been sent the book to read. Seiwell said that one day at the house, after McCartney had read the book the night before, he sat down at the piano and started going, “James Bond… James Bond… da-da-dum!” and playing around. Within ten minutes, he said, the song was written. He described it as incredible to witness, something he would remember for the rest of his life.
