I really like this kind of story

Dark and gripping all the way through. The way “Find him. You must.” keeps returning gives the whole piece a trapped, feverish pulse, and David’s slow collapse from ordinary routine into full nightmare feels believable because you take your time with it. The pawn shop, the felt-lined box, the visions, the alley, all of it builds that sense that something evil has already decided the outcome long before he understands what’s happening.

The strongest part for me is the turn near the end, when revenge drops away and you realize “all it wanted was blood.” That shift gives the story real bite. It stops being just a haunting and becomes something colder and meaner. Bleak, tense, and very easy to get pulled into.
