In 1983 the song began to gain weight outside the band itself as well. It caught the attention of music industry veteran Terry Slater, who became their manager and helped them secure a contract with Warner Bros. Records later that year. a-ha, a Norwegian trio consisting of Morten Harket on vocals, Pål Waaktaar on guitar, and Mags Furuholmen on keyboards, had moved to London in January 1983 and signed to Warner later that year. The name a-ha had been chosen by Furuholmen because it was a simple exclamation, easily recognizable all over the world.
