In reality, Noel had originally thought of singing it himself, but he gave Liam the right to choose between “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger.” Liam chose the former, so Noel kept the latter for himself. Later, with his familiar humor, when he learned that “Wonderwall” had been named the most streamed song of the 70s, 80s, and 90s in the United Kingdom, he commented that he would have preferred it to be a song he himself sang, adding with a tease that “Don’t Look Back In Anger” has the better lead vocal.
