The original story of the title is already strange in itself. The song was not called “Wonderwall” from the beginning. Its original title was “Wishing Stone.” Noel Gallagher recounted in 2013 that the name came from a girl he had taken back to his hotel room, who was carrying a stone in her pocket and insisting that he had to take it. He thought “Wishing Stone” was a great title, and the song began to take shape around that idea. For a long time it remained that way.
