The app for independent voices

In front of him, a girl of about twenty was scrolling so quickly through her phone it looked as if she were chasing images that kept slipping away from her. Beside her, a man in a suit was half asleep in his seat, his head dropped forward as though what weighed on him was not his body but the whole life he had built. A woman with a schoolbag resting against her leg was reading something about supermarket discounts. Up near the driver, a boy was filming himself, smiling into a camera with more warmth than he had perhaps ever given another person.
