The app for independent voices

One of the strongest pieces I’ve read lately.

Angry, sharp, and very clear about where it stands. The broken line rhythm works in your favor here because it sounds like someone trying to speak through disbelief in real time, “The whole world / feels this,”“Again. / Again.”“Nobody is coming to your aid.” It gives the piece a live wire feeling, like outrage refusing to smooth itself out for anyone’s comfort.

What also works is that you keep dragging the argument back to ordinary life, “the price at the pump,”“the cost of living,”“healthcare… daycare… food security… education… housing.” That keeps it from floating off into abstract politics. It stays grounded in consequence. And lines like “A third world nation / wearing a first world mask” and “I’m not fooled by a fool” give it bite without losing the voice behind it. Raw, confrontational, and written with real heat.
