I’d like to say I’m a plotter, when it comes to writing. It just sounds fitting for fiction when it’s historically based. But there hasn’t been a single one of my stories that didn’t run away on the rough draft.

My latest work is no different! But that’s alright.

Like my brother always says, when he beats me badly at pickleball, and I get mad over it. “When your failing, take a step back. And start again at square one.” It’s Advice I carry over to my writing.

The failing is of course my rough draft! The step back, my last words on its last pages. And the square one, deleting everything that shouldn’t be there.

I hope anyone who plots their work like I do finds this useful. Or to anyone that tries hard to be good at anything. Cause I know how it can feel plateauing at a skill. Or feeling like you're getting worse.
