People only cherish and hand down things that are beautiful and worth cherishing.

We don't create as many beautiful things anymore, and even if we did, we've educated a population to not recognize beauty when it slaps them in the face.

When was the last time a family brought out the special china for a special dinner?

We don’t really cherish things anymore, do we?

Not to sound like a materialist, but I think this is bad and symptomatic of a larger culture of disposability.
