Make money doing the work you believe in

I’ve known 14-year-olds who have created their own successful non-profits. I’ve worked for two guys who started their successful business at 16. I’ve known another who grew his lawn care business to something that could support his eventual family, one that he started in the summer when he was 15-years-old.

But sure, jump to coal mines and army drummers so you can dismiss the principle out of hand and give yourself a pass.

I suggest we put the kids to work in the coal mines to build character, or let them black shoes for a living on the street. If we are being all gilded age about it. Maybe they can be a drummer for the union during the Civil War, give them a red badge of courage.
