The woman accused of hurling racial epithets against a Black autistic child was found guilty of disorderly conduct late Thursday night, capping a dramatic four-day trial after the incident went viral last year.

Shiloh Hendrix, 37, was fined $1,000 by District Court Judge Christa M. Daily. She also received a stayed 90-day jail sentence and was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

Rochester NAACP President Wale Elegbede called the ruling a mixed result, as Hendrix was only convicted of one of the two misdemeanor charges she faced.

“What she did to this child was horrible,” Elegbede said outside the Olmsted County Government Center late Thursday. Hendrix was sentenced around 11 p.m. after a jury deliberated for more than nine hours.
