I watched the first episode of Tim Robinson’s new HBO show “The Chair Company” last night, and while the specific themes are a bit different, so much of the tone and emphasis on masculinity is the same as in “Friendship.” Being a man today, through Robinson’s lens, is about constantly grappling with humiliation. And while it can make for a comedy, there is also something inherently frightening about it.
