I miss my time on the creek… snuggled deep in the mangroves. The plethora of marine birds… all the aquatic visitors, was an experience unparalleled.
Crystal clear turquoise coloured water… brought freshly in with the fresh ocean tide… filling the estuary. We called it a creek… but was the biggest creek I’d ever seen😁. And I’ve seen a few.
You could clearly see all the fish as they made their way up and through the mangroves… some more curious as they’d follow me around as I stood or swam. And the regular route of the large and small stingrays… up and down the creek. We gave them space.
The life so rich in these marine reserves.
What an extraordinary miracle this natural world is.
I recall the lead up to leaving that extraordinary piece of paradise.
I needed to sever the connection. And at the time, I felt it was the hardest thing I’d ever had to do.
“I can’t do this…” echoed again and again and again.
It went deep… this connection. This presence, this giving. This extraordinary beauty. I needed to disconnect to be able to walk away.
It was visceral.
It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
And I didn’t know if I could do it.
I felt the physical tremors and visceral sensations through my body.
Then along came covid… invading my body… to complicate the mix.
I made the move… I’m not quite sure how.
I remember the day… exhaustion so deep, it seemed impossible that I was still functioning.
I was ‘just’ still functioning.
I’d planned to make my way down the coast to stay with a friend… my ever loyal wagon packed to the rafters.
I hadn’t eaten all day… just one cup of tea. I was awfully thin after 6 weeks of covid madness.
My friend’s place was too far away… no way I could drive that distance… not in my state. Last minute plan… I made my way to another friend just a couple of kilometres away.
Just for a short stay I thought and said… time to allow me to regain some strength.
Turned out to be 2yrs… up there on the hill… surrounded by acres of trees. And the special wildlife visitors of course. So special.
I need the trees… and the company of our wildlife friends.
Of course… it’s the wild. Constantly calling me… to return back home.
If I stay away too long… I begin to fray… begin to diminish… slowly slip away.
I have to catch myself before it’s too late.
It get’s edgy sometimes.
Probably all that Scorpio… amongst other things
I go back to the day my lovely, gifted friend… and the therapy session… Sand Play Therapy.
I’d chosen the Faerie Queen… Merlin, and a scatter of crystals… to place on the freshly raked sand.
My therapist friend… holding such exquisite space… gently asked if there was a message for me.
I’ve always remembered the exact words… several decades later.
The Faerie Queen said…
“You can go out there… to work etc… but you need to come back. You won’t survive out there.”
There’ll be another move… it’s coming closer. Away from that world where my survival is threatened.
Back to the wild… well as wild as I can practically manage… as I make my way to my 8th decade here on this spectacular Earth.
I have great plans for this special time.
Of course we never know when our departure date is scheduled… why I need to enjoy every moment that comes to me.
love to you 💙🥰💙
