It’s amazing what can finally come through when we just. sit. still.
I’ve really been trying to lean back into my morning “sit practice” since the holidays where I let my schedule go a bit. I say “sit practice” because you may be relieved (like I was when I first heard this) that there is an alternative to meditating, silently, eyes-closed, for thirty minutes each morning…
In fact, for some of us, this form of strict meditation just isn’t correct. In my sit practice, all I have to do is show up to my floor cushion each morning. Sometimes I do meditate, sometimes I drink tea in silence, sometimes I look out the window, read a theology book, write down some morning downloads in my journal as the sun slowly creeps through.
Every day is a little different, but the consistency lies in planting myself in this spot each morning, carving out stillness away from technology, and checking in on what I really need today.
What does “stillness” look like for you?
